SINGAPORE, 18 October 2019 – Rizhao Port Jurong (RPJ), a joint venture between Jurong Port and China’s Rizhao Port Group has won the Deal of the Year award at the Lloyd’s List Asia Pacific Awards 2019 held at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore on 17 October 2019. Jurong Port’s General Counsel Tham Wai Kong, who is also the Supervisor on the RPJ Board, received the award on behalf of RPJ.
The Lloyd’s List Awards, established 20 years ago, recognizes organizations and individuals for their exemplary performances and contributions to the maritime industry. The submissions are evaluated by an independent panel of judges and RPJ clinched this award for demonstrating exemplary expertise and commitment to the shipping industry and innovation that played a pivotal role in RPJ’s achievements.
In the opinion of the judges, RPJ‘s successful listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in June, raising HK$600m through the IPO was a bold and remarkable investment to enhance the port capacity that will benefit the shipping industry in Asia and is a winner for the shareholders, and all the company’s partners and customers. RPJ’s fellow finalists were BNP Paribas, Bocomm Leasing, and MOL Chemical Tankers.
Jurong Port is grateful for this recognition from Lloyd’s List as it not only marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Rizhao Port Group and Jurong Port, it also shows how far RPJ has come since 2011.
