SINGAPORE, 30 September 2021 – Jurong Port (“JP”) has announced the appointment of Mr Wee Siew Kim as its new Chairman. This will take effect from 1 October 2021. He will take over from Mr Ng Chee Keong, who will step down from the JP Board after nine years of dedicated service since 2012, including five years as Chairman from October 2016 to September 2021.
Mr Ng Chee Keong provided strategic guidance to help JP shape and execute its transformation strategy, while always maintaining focus on furthering Singapore’s maritime interests. He has led JP through a significant period of transformation, bearing witness to and being directly involved in JP’s milestones of growth and accomplishments.
Mr Wee Siew Kim is currently Group Chief Executive Officer of Nipsea Group and Co-President of Nippon Paint Holdings. Before this, he held various engineering, business development and management appointments in Singapore Technologies Group. Currently, he serves on the Boards of Mapletree Logistics Trust Management, SIA Engineering Company and Singapore Telecommunications. He was formerly Chairman of ES Group (Holdings) Limited, a Director of SBS Transit Ltd and Changi Airports International Pte Ltd. Mr Wee brings a wealth of experience serving different organisations in various capacities. His rich and diverse exp erience in leadership positions will be key in steering JP in its next chapter of transformation and growth.
With the new appointment, there will be nine members on the JP Board. The other Board members are Tan Boon Khai (CEO, JTC Corporation), Ooi Boon Hoe (CEO, JP), Teo Eng Dih (DS – Policy, Mindef), Gina Lee-Wan (Partner, Allen & Gledhill LLP), Robert Yap (Chairman, Sunseap Group), Vincent Chong (President & CEO, ST Engineering), Muthukrishnan Ramaswami and Lee Chiang Huat.
