Senior Appointment Changes
Jurong Port, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JTC Corporation, has announced the appointment of Mr Terence Seow as Chief Executive Officer effective 1 Sep 2022. Mr Seow succeeds Mr Ooi Boon Hoe, who will assume the role of Advisor until 31 Dec 2022.
Mr Terence Seow
Mr Terence Seow is currently overseeing two major functions – Corporate, Policy and Planning Group and the Enterprise Cluster Group – as Assistant Chief Executive Officer of JTC. He is also covering the position of Chief Digital Officer.
In his current role, Mr Seow was instrumental in driving the successful transfer of HDB’s industrial property portfolio to JTC. This resulted in the consolidation of all public sector industrial land and space under one agency. He has also guided the transformation of JTC into a more data-driven and digital-oriented organisation.
Mr Seow has more than 25 years of experience in the public sector. He started his career in 1995 with then Trade Development Board (later International Enterprise Singapore and today Enterprise Singapore), and was subsequently seconded to JTC as Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Corporate, Policy and Planning) in 2014.
Mr Seow, who is 52, graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attained a Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University, through a scholarship awarded by International Enterprise Singapore. In 2018, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in recognition of his contribution to the Public Service.
Mr Ooi Boon Hoe
Mr Ooi Boon Hoe was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Jurong Port on 21 August 2014. He was pivotal in shaping Jurong Port’s vision as a Next-Generation Multipurpose Port (NGMPP) and led the transformation that saw Jurong Port transition successfully from landlord to operator. This brought forth improvements in many aspects of its waterfront operations, workplace health and safety, digitalisation, business diversification, and sustainability.
Mr Ooi is a strong proponent of creating value for the supply chains that the port serves. Together with his team, he spearheaded the creation of port-centric ecosystems (e.g. Ready-Mixed Concrete ecosystem) and the development of energy terminals business (e.g. Jurong Port Tank Terminals and Jurong Port Universal Terminal).
For his contributions to the maritime sector, Mr Ooi was awarded the medal of commendation from NTUC in May 2017. He also serves on the NUS Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) committee and MPA Maritime Industry Transformation Tripartite Committee (MITTC).
In Appreciation
The Board of Jurong Port would like to put on record its appreciation to Mr Ooi Boon Hoe for his significant contributions as Chief Executive Officer of Jurong Port and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
