Jurong Port (JP) hosted Princess Anne, who is daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, during her visit today in support of the fund raising charity event organised by Mission to Seafarers Singapore (MTSS) and Riding for the Disabled Singapore (RDA). Princess Anne is president of MTSS and patron of RDA.
The charity event was held at the MTSS Drop-In-Centre located within the port where she met with staff, volunteers and seafarers. The Drop-in-Centre provides assistance and support to visiting seafarers, thus contributing to the range of services that the maritime industry requires. About 200 sponsors and participants for the event boarded the yacht ‘Royal Albatross’ which was berthed at the port as part of the charity event proceedings.
The port also facilitated Princess Anne’s visit by coordinating RDA’s logistics requirements. RDA brought a horse into JP to mark the occasion, while children and beneficiaries of the charity, together with its staff, had the opportunity to interact with Princess Anne. RDA provides therapy services for the disabled in Singapore.
“JP lauds the efforts of MTSS and RDA. This is indeed a special event and we are honoured to be part of this memorable event,” said JP CEO Ooi Boon Hoe.
