Jurong Port's general cargo berths handle steel products, machinery & equipment, project cargo, and rubber among others. Total general cargo throughput for FY15 is more than 7.82 million tonnes.
Steel products that go through our port include steel plates, bars, pipes, beams and coils. These steel products are consumed mainly by our construction and marine engineering industries. Our port is equipped with two roll-on roll-off mechanical ramps for berthing of landing crafts at all tide levels. There is also a craft terminal for berthing of wooden crafts. For large-sized and heavy-lift project cargo, the port is equipped with modern handling equipment for cost effective cargo handling.
Transit warehouses adjacent to the berths are available to provide easy ship-to-shore movements as well as wide wharf apron areas for loading and discharging operations. In addition, the port has ample column-free warehouses within its Free Trade Zone. Dedicated warehouses are accredited by the London Metal Exchange (LME) for the storage of traded metals.
